Strength Based / Trauma Informed Support and Risk Management Planning

Course Details

The course will equip participants to help service users set meaningful goals and achievable actions, evidence progress, and apply strength-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed approaches, encouraging safer and effective client support. The content will be aligned with NHS Scotland and SAMSA guidance.

Learning Outcomes

  • Review purpose and practice of the support plan and client safety plan (risk assessment).
    • Defining/ identifying goals and actions.
    • Documenting and evidencing progress.
  • Define and apply principles of strength & asset-based practice to client support / risk management planning.
  • Define and apply principles of person-centered working to client support / risk management planning.
  • Define and apply principles of trauma informed practice to client support / risk management planning.

Additional Information

Hours: 9:30 am-4 pm (including comfort and lunch breaks)

Learning hours: 6 hours

Who should apply

  • Any HSD support worker who completes support plans and risk assessments. For new starters the course should be completed prior to Atlas training, if possible.
  • Members of the management team.

Note: Should an employee/officer book a place on a course but then subsequently fail to attend or complete the course, repayment of cost of the course will be charged to the department/appointment concerned (recoverable from the individual) (Policy CS04 Sect 6.5).
