The Salvation Army UKI Territory seeks to ensure that funded learning and development activities demonstrate a clear link to professional standards and organisational objectives. Suitable learning events will typically include a defined curriculum, clear learning outcomes, and alignment to recognised frameworks such as the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) or equivalent. Preference will be given to courses and programmes that carry endorsement or accreditation by a recognised professional body and which contribute directly to the development of knowledge, skills, and professional credentials relevant to the individual’s role and future organisational needs.
Learning activities that do not provide sufficient evidence of structured learning content, measurable outcomes, or professional endorsement may not meet the threshold for funding under the Learning and Development Policy. Where such activities are considered to offer value for personal or professional enrichment, funding may be considered under alternative budget lines at the discretion of the relevant leader or budget holder. The organisation may also seek to offer equivalent development opportunities internally, such as coaching, mentoring or access to accredited programmes to meet similar development needs.
